We often feel more than one thing at a time. In the messy reality of our lives, we can often find ourselves caught between opposing forces, fighting a battle between panic and peace, or confusion and clarity.

When we force difficult feelings away, our struggle continues. Our focus is on our struggle to resist. Healing begins when we stop fighting our inner world and learn the art of acceptance.

This poem offers a gentle reminder that every emotion has its place and can sit side by side together.

Fusion

Panic rises,

    or peace exists.

  Battle

       #surrender

   a gasp

       of air

           a deep

               inhale

       a heart races

           Then slowly paces

No trick lurks behind these fates—

     rhyme,

     reason —

  Hope

      nudges against

  despair,

clarity

      leans on

  confusion

Compassion

             Holds gently

                        Angers hate

And its delusion

  All exist—

Yet none persist

        in the sliver ~

           of their fusion…

The poem is a reminder that emotions are not permanent states.

Counselling provides a safe space to learn to hold compassion for your pain, in turn making room for acceptance that lifts the weight and brings about more self-love, trust and internal peace.
